Welcome to our Baby Sing & Sign theme classes!  We have fun with songs, books & more set to American Sign Language.  Sessions are suitable for beginners, and those with previous experience.

Christmas Holiday Theme

In this class we are discovering CHRISTMAS songs & signs! Learns holiday signs such as Christmas, Santa, stocking, tree, snow, bells, elf, reindeer, snow & so much more! We will play fun Christmas games, read books and sing Christmas carols all while learning new signs and practicing old ones.  Join us dressed in your favourite Christmas jammies or holiday outfit!

• To allow us to continue to offer these super fun, baby sing & sign theme classes to our community we have moved this program to a live & interactive virtual format via Zoom Meeting with Instructor Ashlea of SmallTalk Academy!
• A virtual format allows you the freedom of movement to get right involved in these classes AND allow us to expand our age range to both baby’s, toddlers and young children + their caregivers
• Come sign with us!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Hi I’m Ashlea of SmallTalk Academy!  I’ve been teaching sign language to families in Barrie and surrounding areas for over 15 years and am a certified Signing Time Academy and Sign2me Instructor. I’ve trained and mentored infant sign language instructors throughout Canada and continue to teach children of all ages the joys of sign language.

We took Baby Sign Level 1 when my son was about 9 months old. He is almost 17 months old now and has been able to let us know what he needs by signing for some time now. He signs more, milk, water, cat, apple, sing, all done, bath, bird & just the other day he signed wet to let me know his diaper needed changing! It is so exciting when he uses a new sign! My husband really likes that he, too, can understand what our son needs and uses signing with him as well. I babysit another 17 month old who also was in Level 1 and it has been so beneficial and helpful to my childcare to be able to incorporate signing in our day.  We loved Ashlea’s enthusiasm and the way her classes were structured… lots of singing and playing designed to teach us the signs! My son and I took baby sign language with SmallTalk Academy and out of all the classes we did, these were by far the most beneficial and fun! Ashlea is a wonderful teacher! My son would never have been able to communicate with us so clearly at such an early age without learning baby sign language. He signs for everyday basics- more, help, milk, please, change my diaper & water. He also signs for fun-toy, dog, gorilla, play & ball.  I rave all about the benefits we’ve received from taking these classes. All children should have the opportunity and tools to express themselves a young age.
